I'd always frowned on the CAP in the EU, and how France disproportionately benefits from the ag subsidies. But then I drove through the farmlands of France and ate the local food and everything was so good and cheap that now I think farm subsidies make sense if it protects places like France. Not if they protect crappy farms who produce mediocre products though. Just France.

I travel for business as well but I go from one extreme to the other. From September thru November I travel constantly and practically live at airports and hotels that do not have quality restaurants. I don't have time to exercize so any healthy lifestyle routines are out the window. Then at other times, I travel to meet with the senior level clients, which includes taking them out for dinner, usually at expensive steak places where the arteries are clogged instantly. There doesn't seem to be a happy medium.

If I were a healthy food, I would be a shiny red apple. If I were a junk food, I would be a white chocolate.

If I were a healthy food, I would have to be garlic hummus. Tasty.

If were a junk food, I think I'd have to be Ben and Jerry's New York Superfudge Chunk. It's "all natural," but it's not healthy to eat it all at once!

I just wanted to comment on Michael Pollan. If I could afford it, I would buy a copy for every person I know and love.
How did we get so far away from food? Well, Mr. Pollan nails it.
I always want to recommend "The Omnivore's Dilemma" to people, but I think it must be a bit 'weighty' Unless one's career is centered around food...healthy food.
So, I was pleased when his new book was published.
I am always happy when others give it props!!

Hi, Rebecca,
I interviewed Michael Pollan for my documentary on food (FOOD FIGHT). He is *the* expert on the politics of food in our country.
If you get a chance, please check out my website-www.foodfightthedoc.com
It has all the info on my film, which will be coming to Festivals in 2008. If you are based in NYC, you should know that I interviewed Dan Barber and Marion Nestle and shot at the Union Sq Farmer's Market....thanks, Chris

For a healthy food I would be a pink lady apple
Junk would definitely be a chocolate cake donut.

My daughter would probably have the same answers as you, she loves broccoli and apple pie... not together though!
